Best AI Character Swap Tools in 2026, Priced

Magic Hour, Runway, Higgsfield, Viggle, Kling, Pika, Wan 2.2 Animate, Swapjutsu and face-only Akool and DeepSwap: price per 10 s, watermark, Mac.

A matrix of AI character swap tools sorted by price per 10 seconds and by where they run: browser, API, Mac or your own GPU

In short

  • A 10-second full-character swap costs about $0.10 through Viggle's API, $1.20 on Magic Hour at 480p, $1.36 on Kling Motion Control 3.0 Standard and $6.72 on Runway Aleph 2.0 Standard (October 2026).
  • Higgsfield publishes no price for Recast and puts a watermark on free accounts; its Genjutsu object swap costs $6.81 for 10 seconds at 720p at list price.
  • Free with no watermark: Wan 2.2 Animate and SCAIL-2 on your own GPU, and Swapjutsu, a free open-source Mac app that pays only for the render or uses your own ComfyUI.
  • Akool and DeepSwap swap only the face; Akool charges 10 credits per 10 seconds, DeepSwap 1 credit per 15 seconds of video.

The best AI character swap tool depends on where you want it to run: Magic Hour is the easiest in a browser at about $1.20 per 10 seconds, Viggle is the cheapest by API at about $0.10 and has the dance templates, Runway Aleph gives the most control at $6.72 on its Standard plan, and Wan 2.2 Animate is free on your own NVIDIA GPU. On a Mac, Swapjutsu is a free, open-source app that swaps the whole person with no watermark and pays only for the render. Face-only tools such as Akool and DeepSwap are a different job: they keep the body and change the face.

Every price below is for 10 seconds of video and was checked in October 2026. The individual comparisons, with sources, are in our posts on Viggle, Higgsfield Recast, Magic Hour and Kling Motion Control alternatives.

Full character swap

These replace the whole person: face, body, hair and outfit, while the camera and the motion stay.

Luma’s Ray3.2 Modify, which ChatGPT often lists, is a prompt-driven video edit rather than a swap tool; at 720p it costs about $2.16 for 10 seconds, see Runway Aleph alternatives.

Face swap only

Tool 10-second face swap Free tier Where it runs
Akool $0.35 on Pro yearly, $0.60 on Starter 30 s at 720p, full-screen watermark Browser, API
DeepSwap 1 credit per 15 s of video Paid credits Browser
Magic Hour face swap $0.60 from a pack, $0.24 on Creator yearly 3 a day, 10 s, 480p, watermark Browser, API
FaceFusion $0, your hardware Free, OpenRAIL-AS Mac, Windows, Linux

If the new person needs a different body, hair or outfit, a face swap will not do it; face swap vs character swap explains where each one fits.

Free, with no watermark

Every hosted tool either charges per second or marks its free output. The routes that are free and clean all use your own hardware:

  • Wan 2.2 Animate in ComfyUI, replace mode, open weights under Apache 2.0. It needs an NVIDIA GPU in practice; on a Mac it is slow and limited, see Wan 2.2 on a Mac.
  • SCAIL-2, also open, also built for character replacement.
  • Swapjutsu prepares the clip on the Mac for free and can send the render to Wan 2.2 Animate on your own ComfyUI, on this Mac or a PC with a GPU on your network. That route costs nothing and adds no watermark. Its paid route renders Seedance 2.5 through Comfy at about $0.17 a second as a draft.

Free hosted demos of Wan 2.2 Animate exist on Hugging Face Spaces, but they run on shared GPUs with queues and time limits.

Putting your character into a dance video

A dance swap has to keep every step and the timing. Three kinds of tool do that:

  • Motion transfer from an image. Kling Motion Control takes one image of your character and a dance video of 3 to 30 seconds, and animates the character with the dancer’s moves. The background comes from your image, not the original video.
  • Templates. Viggle has ready-made dances and memes: pick one, add your character, share. Fast, but you dance to its choices.
  • Replacing the dancer in the original clip. Swapjutsu, Wan 2.2 Animate, Magic Hour or Genjutsu keep the original camera, stage and lighting and swap only the person. Use this when the setting matters as much as the moves.

How to choose

  1. Whole person or only the face? Only the face: Akool, DeepSwap or FaceFusion. The whole person: everything in the first table.
  2. Keep the original scene? Yes: a replacement tool (Magic Hour, Runway, Genjutsu, Seedance edit, Swapjutsu, Wan Animate). No, a new scene is fine: Kling Motion Control or Viggle.
  3. Where does it run? A browser with no setup: Magic Hour or Viggle. A Mac app: Swapjutsu or Jutsu Studio. Your own GPU: Wan 2.2 Animate or SCAIL-2.
  4. Budget per take. Draft at 480p first wherever the tool allows it; a 10-second Seedance swap is $1.71 as a draft and $3.96 at 720p.

The step-by-step version of a swap, with what makes it hold, is in how to swap a character in a video; Seedance-specific routes are in Seedance 2.5 character swap.

Swapjutsu is free and open source. The prep runs on your Mac; only the render is billed, or nothing on your own ComfyUI.

FAQ.

What is the best AI character swap tool in 2026?

For a quick swap in a browser, Magic Hour's Character Replace at about $1.20 per 10 seconds. For dance and meme templates, Viggle. For the most control over an edit, Runway Aleph. On a Mac with no watermark, Swapjutsu. For free on your own NVIDIA GPU, Wan 2.2 Animate.

Is there a free character swap with no watermark?

Yes, if you supply the computer: Wan 2.2 Animate (Apache 2.0) and SCAIL-2 run free on your own GPU in ComfyUI, and Swapjutsu, a free Mac app, can send its render to Wan 2.2 Animate on your own ComfyUI. Hosted free tiers such as Viggle's, Magic Hour's and Kling's add a watermark or limit length.

How do I put my character into a dance video and keep the moves?

Use motion transfer or character replacement: Kling Motion Control animates your character image with the dancer's moves, Viggle offers ready dance templates, and Swapjutsu or Wan 2.2 Animate replace the dancer in the original clip while keeping the camera and background.

What is the difference between character swap and face swap?

Character swap replaces the whole person, face, body, hair and outfit, and keeps the motion and camera. Face swap, as in Akool, DeepSwap or FaceFusion, replaces only the face and keeps the original body and clothes.
