In short
- Higgsfield has a free account but no free trial: the free tier has a limited set of models, no credits and a visible watermark on every generation (Higgsfield help center, checked October 31, 2026).
- The cheapest way in is a $3 one-time offer with 40 credits and two days of unlimited Soul 2.0; the cheapest plan is Starter at $19 a month.
- Paid plans include small pools of free generations: Starter has 5 Genjutsu Lite generations at 1080p, Plus has 2 or 3 Genjutsu generations at 720p, plus Soul V2 and Cinema image generations.
- Higgsfield refunds a first purchase within 7 days only if no credits were used, with a service fee of up to 6%; renewals are not refunded.
Higgsfield is free to sign up for, but not free to make videos with. A free account gets a limited set of models, no credits and a visible watermark on everything it generates, and there is no free trial. Video models such as Seedance 2.5, Kling and Veo run on credits, which start at $3 for a one-time pack of 40 and $19 a month for the Starter plan.

What a free Higgsfield account can do
Higgsfield’s help center puts it plainly: you can generate without a paid plan, but access is limited to a small set of models and does not include credits. What that means in practice:
- No credits. Anything priced in credits, which is every video model, needs a plan or a credit pack.
- A watermark on every generation. The watermark depends only on the account type. Paid plans remove it from new generations; old files keep it.
- No trial. The help center says there is no trial period before buying a subscription.
- No unlimited models. Unlimited access exists only on paid plans and only while the subscription is active.
A free account is enough to look around the interface and try the free image tools. It is not a way to make videos.

Prices exclude VAT and local taxes. On October 20 the same page listed 270 credits a month on Starter and 1,200 on Plus; the October 31 cards no longer show credit counts. Credits per plan, reset dates and top-ups are in Higgsfield credits explained.
The $3 offer is the closest thing to a trial. 40 credits make about two short videos: a 10-second clip at 720p costs 18 credits on Wan 3.0 and 20 on Genjutsu Lite, and 70 on Seedance 2.5, which 40 credits don’t cover. The per-model credit prices are in the Higgsfield price table.
Starter is limited to selected models: the October 31 comparison table marks Seedance 2.5 and Seedance 2.0 as not included. If Seedance is why you are here, Starter is the wrong plan.
Free generations on paid plans
Every paid plan comes with a few model-specific free generations that don’t spend credits:

Is Genjutsu free?
Not on a free account. Higgsfield Genjutsu, the character swap model, runs on credits, and its free generations come with paid plans: 2 at 720p on Plus monthly, 3 on Plus annual and none on Starter, which gets 5 Genjutsu Lite generations at 1080p instead. Past those, a 10-second Genjutsu clip is 70 credits at 720p and Genjutsu Lite 20. What Genjutsu does and what else can swap a character are in Genjutsu alternatives.
Which video models are unlimited?
Almost none. On October 31 the plans’ unlimited lists were nearly all image models; the only video model was Seedance 2.5 at 720p for 7 days on Plus annual. The full list per plan and the rules that come with it are in Higgsfield Unlimited.
Refunds
Higgsfield refunds a first purchase within 7 days, or as local law requires, only if no credits have been used, and keeps a service fee of up to 6%. Renewals are not refunded. Spending even a few credits on the first day closes the refund window, so test with the $3 offer rather than a full plan.
Free and open-source alternatives
“Higgsfield free GitHub” searches usually mean one of two things. Open-source models such as Wan and LTX run on your own GPU for free, and open-source apps rebuild Higgsfield’s tools on top of them; both are listed in Open-source Higgsfield alternatives.
